Mayim Bialik out as ‘Jeopardy!’ host; Sony goes with Ken Jennings

Mayim Bialik will no longer be hosting “Jeopardy!”

The actress-turned-game-show-host announced Friday that Sony was letting her go. “Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!” Bialik wrote on Instagram.

“I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family.”

Before the show’s current season, the “Big Bang Theory” alum had been splitting host duties with Ken Jennings.

Jennings has been the primary host during “Jeopardy!” season 40. Bialik has been on the sidelines since May, when she said she would stop hosting the show in solidarity with the Hollywood writers’ strike.

Sony Pictures Television explained the decision by saying the show would work better with one host next season “to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy!”

“We are truly grateful for all of Mayim’s contributions to Jeopardy!, and we hope to continue to work with her on primetime specials.”

Bialik was first tapped to host “Celebrity Jeopardy” in 2020, a year after she finished her run on CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” playing Amy Farrah Fowler, a role that earned her four Emmy Award nominations.
