HOUSTON – Tropical Storm Beryl is currently moving across Texas, causing significant disruptions after leaving millions without power and resulting in at least four fatalities in the greater Houston area.
Beryl escalated to a Category 1 hurricane after traveling through the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday night, making landfall in Matagorda around 4 a.m. on Monday. As it traversed Southeast Texas, the hurricane exhibited maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and gusts reaching 90 mph.

The tropical storm is steadily weakening and is anticipated to transition into a post-tropical cyclone by Tuesday. Watches and warnings for Beryl remain in effect across Texas, including the Houston area, as residents brace for potential impacts and ongoing weather challenges.
