Ukraine’s Zelensky says it is ‘hell’ in Donetsk as battle rages

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian troops are suffering in Donetsk from Russian forces fighting for their survival after they abandoned Kherson last week.

Zelensky, in a video address Saturday described the clashes that took place in Donetsk’s eastern region since Russia had abandoned Donetsk as its only capital since February war.

Zelensky stated, “There it’s just hell — there are extremely intense battles there every day.” “But our units are fighting bravely — they are withstanding terrible pressure from the invaders and preserving our defense lines.”

Zelensky stated that Russian troops had destroyed all of Kherson’s critical infrastructure, including communications, water, heat and electricity, before they fled.

According to the leader of Ukraine, Russians have “everywhere the same goal: humiliate people as far as possible.” He said that he would restore all things, and he was confident.

The Kremlin stated that Ebrahim Raisi, Iranian President, and Vladimir Putin, Russian President of Russia, spoke about expanding their ties in a phone call this weekend.

This discussion took place after a meeting between a senior Russian security officer and Iranian leaders in Tehran on Wednesday. It added fuel to the previous allegations by Ukraine that Russia used Iranian drones for targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Iran claims that it sent Russia small numbers of drones just before the war started.

Two Iranian diplomats and two top Iranian officials told Reuters last month that Iran had pledged to supply Russia with surface-to–surface missiles.

According to an exchange Saturday between Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, and Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Ukraine will need to decide the timing and content of any negotiation framework that it might try to establish with Russia.
