Two dead in Bronx apartment building fire, two others critically hurt

Officials said that a 20-year old woman and a 60-year-old male were killed in a fire at their Bronx apartment.

Authorities said that two other women survived the fire in their second-floor apartment on Harrison Ave. near W. Tremont Ave. in Morris Heights at just before 5:30 AM.

BronxCare Health System rushed the woman, aged 20, to BronxCare. However, she was too weak to be saved. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where he later died.


Two women, one 62-year old and one 63-year-old, were both admitted to critical condition.

According to authorities, the fire was not suspicious.

Sixty firefighters responded at once to the fire in the 5-story building. The FDNY stated that the fire was put out at 6:19 a.m.
