Man Utd already have four players who could be new No 7 after Ronaldo

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will be aiming to fill the void left by Man Utd legend David Beckham ‘open to takeover talks’ after approaches

Sancho was not included in the England World Cup squad this year. He will be keen to prove Gareth Southgate right when the Premier League returns. United will continue their campaign against Nottingham Forest on the 27th of December. Sancho could receive the No 7 shirt if he shows what he can do at United over the course of the season.

Anthony Elanga, who has been in regular first-team contention for the past couple of seasons, will be looking to play a more prominent role for United. Ten Hag has already rated the young Swede highly after he made 10 league appearances in the campaign. However, it is not clear if Ronaldo will give Elanga his No 7 shirt.

Antony, who signed for United in a huge-money deal from Ajax at the end of the summer transfer windows, could have a chance to grab the highly-coveted shirt number. Although he has worn No 21 since his departure from Ajax, the Brazilian trickster wore No 7 while at Sao Paulo. He may be interested in wearing the number again now that Ronaldo is no longer with the club.

It is still unknown which United player will be awarded the iconic shirt number. This iconic shirt will be a significant pressure on the wearer as the Red Devils strive to finish in the top four of the Premier League. Ten Hag will have many options when club football returns to England next month. However, he will likely have more pressing matters to attend in the weeks ahead of the January transfer window.
